Dreaded Bedded

Dreaded bedded
For so long deprived
Dreaded bedded
On which he can't wait to lie
Dreaded bedded
At festival none
Dreaded bedded
Finally some
Sleep so deep
Can be obtained
No man could refrain
Dreaded bedded

The repetition of the term 'dreaded bedded' emphasises the importance of a sleep, and how restful interjection must be included in daily life if sanity is to be maintained. The lack of the phrase 'dreaded bedded' in the penultimate 4 lines, demonstrates the human tendency to forget the importance of sleep - as embodied in the words 'dreaded bedded'. Dreaded bedded.

Motorway beckons
The driver forth
Where does he travel
South to north
As the eyes of the cat

This poem gives vast insight into the mind of the 'driver' who must use the eyes of the cat for his navigation, and as such, ironically, man relies on this subdordinate creature for survival.

Man lies in tent
A real bed he laments
As the wind sweeps about
Nature does shout
But the tent stays up steady
Until he is ready
To get up for coffee
And a shower to boot
If only he could
Muster effort to
Stand up

Notice how the 'man' is the immediete focus of attention, but the reader's attention is quickly diverted towards the subject matter 'nature'. The presence of nature can be seen as a destructive and obstructive in the man's quest to 'shower' and obtain 'coffee'. However, the man is simultaneously dependent on nature for providing a medium for the tent pegs to be pegged into. Thus a love-hate relationship develops between man and nature. If you like.

Wake Up

Wake up
Raining outside
Stay in bed
To from rain hide
Hunger creeps
Into my bed
Thoughts of food
Invade my head
Maybe I'll
Go back to sleep
But that will waste
The morning hours
So instead
I'll go for a shower

Muggy Air

Muggy air
Encloses all
Without a
Why don't you
Muggy Air
Restricting breathing
Preventing sleep
The evils of muggy air
Run deep
Muggy air
Go away from here
Go over there
Muggy Air
