Existential crisis
In the middle of the night
Is
Something unexpected
Not easily solved by
Anything he can do,
For, when all is said and done
To do
Is to what?

Bedtime Hunger
Bedtime hunger's
On his mind
He dreams of meals
Tasty and sublime
But instead,
Before he rests his head
He'll eat Tesco Everyday Value Bran flakes
Instead.

Shadows On The Wall
Shadows
On the wall they sprawl
Obscure, abstract
One and all
Is that a wolf?
Is that a bear?
Ney
It's just a fucking chair.
The nature of shadows is closely examined in this verse, to the point that the writer has ventured into the realms of questioning the nature of reality ('wolf?' 'bear?') itself.

Drunken Returns
This time not him
His friend instead
Returns drunk
To crash on his bed
Amusing to his mind
He finds
His drunken
Antics
As he recalls the events
Of the night
To prevent them seeping
Out his mind
Drunken returns
Are oh so fine
The author clearly finds the actions of the aforementioned 'friend' a welcome diversion from his routine; mirrored in another's actions are his own, for him to see.

Essay
Man sits down
To essay write
He'll likely stay up
All through the
Night
For 24 hours, is
Not so long
When 1800 words
Must be Done.
This verse successfully conveys the predicament of a man with much work and little time. The capitalisation of the lexis 'Done' transforms the word from informal verb to abstract proper noun, thus projecting the idea that 'Done' is an important state of being which must be reached within the time constraints of the a single day.

Coffee #1
Coffee brewed
Coffee stewed
Till morning
Till noon
Till evening
Till Moon
Never does the time
Not fit the beverage
And never does the
Beverage
Fit ill
The time
For coffee, is
Nigh
Amply demonstrated by the repetion of the concept of the beverage 'coffee', contrasted against various times of day, is the relationship between the writer and the beverage. Coffee.

(K)Night
Night
Bares down, with
Fierce vengeance of
Darkness
Lurked, lurking
Amongst shadows
Like the beast before
The Kill
The Knight stands
In armour dark
Bewitched by the cloak
Of the Night
Knight in the Night
Knight of the Night
Knight is the Night
I think what's important to note in this poem, is the way in which the simple transition from a world of light - courtesy of the daytime sun - to the darkness of the Night, can bring with it not only a change in intensity of light, but a far greater alteration in one's state of being. The 'Knight' mentioned in the poem is initially a passive figure: he 'stands', but as the poem progresses said Knight takes on the qualities of the Night time and its accompanying darkness - becoming a foreboding figure and sharing the 'Fierce vengeance' of the Night. Thus 'Knight is the Night' as the two entities become one. But obviously I just wrote this because 'Night' and 'Knight' rhyme.
