New Years Day Day

Again the time comes
The new year has begun
And in true January style
His head and body feel vile
A night of overindulgence
On white strike and stubbies
Of pints in pubs with homeless blokes
And accidental drunken morning smokes
Has left his head reeling and
His whole body feeling
Too bad to...
FIN.

Drinking Game

They drink what's left
But, alas, in vain
The alcohol's sparse
And the taste is a pain
Shot glasses are egg cups
And the tables a stool
When the alcohol's gone
They'll be left looking like fools.

Not Going Out

Perhaps tonight he'll take a break
Rest his liver and his face
Not for long, just for a while
Else he'll be coughing up something vile
Temporary rest
Is at its best
Superior to drinking
Ney, I jest

Whilst it is apparent that the author feels 'rest' and recuperation are necessary aspects of life, it is heavily emphasised that 'drinking' is ultimately better. The lexis 'drinking' in this context must surely refer to the manner in which mankind lives his life: being a metaphor for the process of Living.
